I love gardening. Well, let me rephrase that. I love the idea of gardening. I love the color of seedlings poking through the dirt, I love the fresh produce that I know hasn’t been treated with anything other than fresh Oregon rain, and I love that my kids know where their food comes from. It’s the weeding and summer watering of the garden that I’m not a big fan of.<\/p>\n

My son enjoys\u00a0sampling\u00a0tomatoes the most, while my daugher\u00a0devours sweet peas. Keeping the kids in mind, we decided to make some fun plant stakes with cast off toys. Both of my kids enjoyed the project (even Little Man who dislikes most creative endeavours).\u00a0The kids\u00a0picked out which animal would match with each vegetable and helped glue the stakes in. When the garden stakes where complete we took the animals out to rule over the garden. They look very content among the new seedlings, and add a little bit\u00a0of the\u00a0unexpected (especially the lone dinosaur, who my son insisted on being labeled with broccoli since he knows all good dinosaurs eat broccoli).<\/p>\n

So this is what you’ll need:<\/p>\n

Colorful alphabet stickers (or a sharpie if you want to write letters yourself)
\nWooden Dowels
\nPlastic\u00a0Animals
\nE6000 Glue
\nSealant (only if you use stickers)
\nPower Drill<\/p>\n

Simply take\u00a0a plastic animal and drill a hole in the belly. Add a <\/a><\/a><\/a>dollop of E6000 glue to a wooden dowel and insert into the animal. Add stickers to spell out your plant and then seal with a couple coats of varnish.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
