A Hoot and a Half
I’m getting so excited for Quinlan’s 9th birthday party. Her momma called and reserved DIY Studio for the event and let me know Quinlan wanted an Owl and Bird themed party. So I got to work brainstorming some possible ideas. After Quinlan polled her friends, she decided that she and her friends would like to make Owl and Bird mobiles. Well, needless to say I’ve been very happy coming up with ideas for her big day!
I made the above personalized invites for her to hand out to her friends (the contact info is blurred out for privacy). I tried to keep the invite and graphics looking modern and fun so that the preteens would feel like crafty hipsters rather than nasty 70’s flashbacks (images of owl macrame comes to mind).
So today I’ve been playing with shape and color and a wee bit of solder to keep the mobile wires and images in place. So this is what I’ve come up with….
I think this mobile is modern and stylish enough that any preteen would gladly display it in her bedroom. The girls will be busy choosing their color palate of their winged creatures and embellishing to their delight. And now I want one as well! I’ll be sure to share some more pictures of the party when the kids are here. Until then, off I go to cut all the pieces with my silhouette machine (wish me luck!).
