Fall Fun
It's my most favorite time of the year. The leaves are turning into stunning new colors, the kids are having fun at school, and the air is cool and crisp. Here are some of the things are I'm doing this year. I though maybe you’d like to try these out too.
- Visit your local pumpkin patch and pick out your perfect pumpkin.
- Spread the word and talk about your favorite candidate, post a sign in your yard, or volunteer at your local elections office. And remember that even though someone may support the wrong guy, all of us really want the same thing, the American Dream. We just have different ideas on how to get there.
- Carve your pumpkin and smash the gooey guts between your fingers. Save the seeds to roast. They make great additions to salads and trail mixes.
- Create a meal swap with your closest friends. You'll be able to take a break from cooking and try out new menu ideas. (Thanks Angela for setting this up)
- Boo someone (the nice way). Booing is like Secret Santa or May Baskets. Leave a surprise treat for your friend at the door with a poem, sign, and instructions attached. Your friend then posts the sign on her house to let others know she’s already been hit and then boos two other friends. It's a great way to welcome Halloween and let your friends know you are thinking of them.
- Bundle up with a warm scarf. Wear it over your head for extra glam or simply wrap it around your neck. Visit http://www.texeresilk.com/cms-scarf_tying_guide.html for other scarf tying ideas.
- Rake up those leaves and jump in them! It's even more fun shouting "Cannonballs!" (like my little man does) while taking the plunge.
- Try and Apple Pie Shot. Take equal parts of Apple Cider and Vodka in a shot glass. Add whipped cream and top with cinnamon. Or for the family, warm up with some Caramel Apple Cider.
- Watch your favorite Halloween Movie. What's mine you ask…I do love the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
- Trick and treat. Invite some girlfriends over for a girl's craft night. Share your talent and teach them a few tricks. I'm sure they'll treat you and share some of theirs as well.
- Go for a walk and take pictures of colorful leaves, house numbers, or pumpkin décor.
- Cheer on your local high school football team. This makes a great date with hubby and the kids will love watching as well.

- Turn on your electric blanket and save money on your heating costs. Hot water bottles work well for young children. For cute heart shaped water bottles visit Victoria Trading Company.
- Purchase a Tiffin Tin (and use it) to reduce your plastic usage. Not only are they good for the environment, but they also look hip and industrial.
